An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern American armored vehicle M-ATV in the M1245A1 version, used by the units of Special Operations Command. The abbreviation M-ATV denotes a tough all-terrain vehicle of the MRAP category, that is, a machine designed above all against mines and improvised explosive devices. The model is released by I Love Kit in 1:35 scale, in which it can be built together with other modern vehicles and with figures of present-day soldiers.
The M-ATV came about as an answer to experience in Afghanistan, where heavy MRAP vehicles were not adequate in mountainous terrain. The result was a four-wheeled machine with a shaped lower hull that deflects the blast wave of an explosion and with independent suspension for high cross-country ability. The special forces version can be recognized by its different rear and its extended equipment: it carries more communications gear, room for stores and mounts for heavy weapons. That makes the vehicle more mobile than older MRAP vehicles while keeping its mine protection.
Finish the cab interior and the drivetrain before the hull is closed. The cab glazing is pronounced on this type, so mask the windows and glue them on only after spraying, ideally with a cement for clear plastic that does not leave a haze. Lighten the sand base coat on the horizontal surfaces, knock the shine off the tires and dust the underside with pigments. Modern vehicles look convincing with dust and rubbing rather than with heavy rust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
