USS Independence (LCS-2) is the second unit and at the same time the lead ship of the class of the same name of littoral combat ships of the US Navy. It is marked by an aluminum trimaran hull, high speed, a low radar signature and a modular concept that allows a quick change of mission, with an anti-submarine, mine countermeasures or surface module. It entered service in 2010.
