A set of color three-dimensional decals for the cockpit of the Japanese A6M2b Zero carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It is intended for the Academy kit.

The real subject

The Zero was a carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy and in the first years of the war in the Pacific it was among the most feared machines in the area. It owed that to its agility and its exceptional range, paid for by a light structure and weak protection of the pilot. The A6M2b form is an early version with folding wingtips, thanks to which the aircraft fitted onto the carrier elevator. The cockpit is single-seat and can be seen into on the model under the glazed canopy.

What the set contains

Color interior elements with a raised relief, that is the instrument panel, the side panels and the other surfaces of the cockpit. The dials, the scales and the lettering are done in color, so you do not have to paint them in by hand. The exact extent of the sheet is given by the maker in the instructions.

Application tips

• The way they are applied differs from one range to another, so follow the instructions from the maker Kelik.
• Varnish the base first, let it dry thoroughly and degrease it; the elements hold only on a smooth, clean surface.
• Pick the elements up with tweezers, seat them dry and press them down with a soft tool so that they settle into the corners as well.
• Try the cockpit dry before you glue the fuselage halves together for good.
