The K-36DM is an ejection seat used in Russian combat aircraft. The seat is a structurally complex assembly full of straps, levers, hoses and colored warning labels, and because it is visible with the canopy raised, it is one of the most closely watched details of a cockpit. Series 2 in the late version corresponds, according to the manufacturer, to machines in use since 2008.

Paint the seat first and let the paint dry completely; the surface should be smooth and degreased. The colored elements are applied like ordinary wet decals: the sheet is dipped briefly in lukewarm water and the element is slid off the backing paper onto the gloss surface. Any three-dimensional parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cut the excess material off a little away from the part and sand the remainder down.

The job is fiddly but short, and fine-pointed tweezers, a sharp blade and good lighting come in handy. The set does not contain a kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
