1:48 Ogaden war 1977-1978

1:48 Ogaden war 1977-1978 - DP Casper, 1:48 scale

This set from DP Casper is not an airplane model but a decal set in 1:48 scale. It offers the markings and camouflage national insignia of aircraft used in the Ogaden War between Ethiopia and Somalia in 1977 and 1978. The decals are applied to a finished, painted model of the corresponding aircraft type.

The real subject

The Ogaden War (1977 to 1978) was a conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia over the Ogaden region in the Horn of Africa. Aircraft of both sides met in the air: on the Ethiopian side supersonic F-5 fighters, for example, and on the Somali side Soviet types such as the MiG-21. The set captures the period finishes and markings of the machines from this less usual theater.

Use

• Apply the decals onto a painted surface polished with varnish.
• Treat the surface with gloss varnish before application and go over it with matte once it has dried.
• For a perfect fit to the relief, use decal softeners.
• Take the exact placement and the variants of the schemes from the enclosed instructions.

Who the set is for

• Modelers interested in the air conflicts of the Cold War and of Africa.
• Builders of F-5, MiG-21 and other period machines in 1:48 scale.
• Anyone after unusual markings away from the usual European theaters.

This is a decal set, not a model. To use it you need the corresponding base kit of the aircraft. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
