The interior equipment of the two-seat Spitfire TR.9 trainer in color printing with relief. It holds the equipment for both seats placed one behind the other. The cutting matches the plastic parts of the Airfix kit.

The two-seat conversion of the Mk IX did not come from the maker but only after the war, when many airframes were left over and new pilots had to be trained. The front cockpit moved forward and down, and behind it came a raised station for the instructor with a canopy of its own and dual controls. Several machines rebuilt this way were bought by the Irish Air Corps, others went to the Netherlands and India. A few of them still fly today and they are a rewarding subject for modelers, because the difference from the single-seat version is obvious at first glance.
Every maker of plastic draws the cockpit tub a little differently: the angle of the side walls, the position of the frames and the width of the floor all vary. The printed sheets are therefore cut to the dimensions of one particular model, and moving them to the product of another brand means trimming, fitting and sometimes the loss of part of the artwork. Here the reference is the modern kit from Airfix, so the sheets fit it with no changes.
The rear station is clearly visible with the canopies open, so it is worth giving it the same care as the front one. The seat belts are laid in place only once the seats are seated, and their ends can be bent carefully with tweezers.
Finish the cockpit before you glue the fuselage halves together, because after that you can only reach into the tub with difficulty. Try fitting the front and rear canopies dry and check that the raised layer does not stop the frame seating anywhere.
It also pays to decide in advance whether the canopies will be open, because that governs how much care is needed.
