This is not a kit or an interior detail set but a package of small metal parts. Static dischargers are thin rods on the trailing edges of the wings and the tail surfaces that carry the static charge built up in flight off into the surrounding air. On a model of the F-16 in 1:48 scale this is a detail that is practically impossible to mold in plastic. The manufacturer gives 16 pieces in the name and 2 extra as a reserve.
In 1:48 scale the dischargers are a few tenths of a millimeter in diameter. Injection-molded plastic either will not flow at such a thickness at all, or produces a part that snaps off at the first touch. Turned metal holds its shape and the same length on every piece, and it takes even your touching the model while carrying it. The two spare rods in the package are practical: a small part readily jumps away during fitting, and without a reserve it would be missing.
Find the positions of the dischargers in the instructions for the kit first and prick them lightly with a needle. Drill the holes with a pin vise closely to the diameter of the part so that no gap has to be filled. Glue the rods with super glue applied with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Keep the same angle away from the edge on every piece, or the model looks untidy. Degrease the metal and coat it with primer; the dischargers can then be painted in with a brush. Put the fitting right at the end of the build, after the painting and the decals.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
