About product

CMV-22B Osprey VRM-30 2024 1:72 (Hasegawa)

Injection-molded plastic kit of the American Bell Boeing CMV-22B Osprey tiltrotor in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. This limited edition brings new decals for a machine of the naval squadron VRM-30 from 2024 and adds a photo-etched part. In the box you will find plastic sprues in light gray, clear parts and photo-etched elements.

The real subject

The Osprey is a tiltrotor: it combines the qualities of a helicopter and of an aircraft thanks to two tilting rotors at the wing tips. With the rotors upright it takes off and lands vertically like a helicopter, and once they are tilted forward it flies fast like a turboprop aircraft. The CMV-22B version is intended for the US Navy to supply aircraft carriers, that is to carry people and cargo to the deck, and it replaces the older C-2A Greyhound aircraft.

Building and painting tips

Finish and paint the cockpit and the interior before you close the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing. Decide whether you will build the rotors and the nacelles in the vertical or the horizontal position, and take care that they sit symmetrically. Spray the large areas with an airbrush; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit the landing gear at the end.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of modern naval aircraft
  • Lovers of unusual tiltrotors
  • Modelers with experience of photo-etch
  • Anyone interested in 1:72 scale for the display case

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
