Colored printed elements of the pilot's compartment for a model of the Ki-43-II Ko/Otsu in 1:72 scale, measured for the Special Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ki-43 is a Japanese fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine, built around low weight and exceptional agility. The price was weaker armament and poor protection, so the pilot relied on the turn rather than on the toughness of the machine. The second production series carried a more powerful engine and gradually better protection as well; the designations Ko and Otsu distinguish two sub-variants within that series.
The set brings colored printed elements of the pilot's compartment in 1:72 scale, measured for the Special Hobby kit. The elements are three-dimensional and already colored, so they do away with laboriously painting and shading the small details of the cockpit with a brush. They are carried on sheets of decal paper, from which an element is slid into place after a short soak.
The elements have no adhesive layer of their own. Wash the surface, degrease it and coat it with gloss varnish, that is a layer of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type, on which an element holds reliably. Cut the element out of the sheet, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds, let it soften and slide it off the backing paper into place. Adjust the position with a brush while the surface is still wet, soak the excess water up with a cloth and press the element down with a soft tool so that it settles into the recesses too. On an uneven surface a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as these chemicals attack the printed resin. Finish the cockpit and close it up only once all the elements are in place.
A set of elements for the pilot's compartment is supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
