Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Hobby 2000. It is a rebox: in the box is the proven plastic of the Japanese firm Fujimi complemented by new decals (Cartograf) and Hobby 2000 instructions, as a rule with a richer choice of markings than the original release. The Late version corresponds to the later form of the night fighter. The package contains clear parts for the cockpit glazing.
The Nakajima J1N1 Gekko, meaning moonlight, was a Japanese twin-engine aircraft that began as a long-range fighter and escort machine and became famous only in the role of the J1N1-S night fighter. For the Allies it carried the code name Irving. The characteristic weapon of the later machines was cannon armament aimed obliquely upward (of the Schräge Musik type), with which the fighter attacked American bombers from below. It was deployed in the defense against raids and in the Pacific.
Glue the parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and sand the joints of the two engine nacelles and the fuselage carefully. Mask the extensive glazing with templates and glue the clear parts only after the frames have been painted. Apply a primer before painting; the typical dark green upper camouflage comes out well with an airbrush and gentle shading of the panels. Apply the decals over a gloss coat and fix them with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
