This resin, 3D printed accessory set contains two R-40RD guided air-to-air missiles (AA-6 Acrid in the NATO code). It is not an airplane model but accurate external stores for improving a fighter model you have already built in 1:72 scale.

The real subject

The R-40 is a Soviet long-range guided air-to-air missile, one of the largest of its kind in size, meant for heavy interceptors. The R-40RD version uses semi-active radar homing. It is carried for example by the MiG-25PD and the MiG-25PDS, usually paired with the infrared homing version.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts to remove print resin residue, separate them from the print supports and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Sand with respiratory protection. The missiles are usually painted light gray with colored bands.
