A decal sheet from SBS Model in 1:72 scale for the British Westland Lysander army co-operation aircraft in Finnish service in the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Lysander is a British high-wing monoplane created for co-operation with ground forces. Its recognizable features are the massive aerodynamic fairings of the fixed undercarriage and the ability to take off and land on a very short strip. Besides British units it was used in the Second World War by other countries as well, Finland among them.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale with national insignia and markings for Finnish machines. The range of the individual schemes, their colors and the placement of the markings are given in the material supplied with the sheet. The set is an accessory for a plastic kit; the model itself is not part of it.
The surface under the decal must be smooth and glossy, otherwise air gets under the film and the edges turn white. Give the model a coat of clear gloss varnish first. Cut the individual markings close to the edge of the print, dip them for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let them rest until the film starts to move freely on the backing. Transfer the decal into place, blot off the excess water and press it down with a soft cloth. A decal softener helps it bed into the rivets and panel lines. At the end give the model a coat of matte or semi-gloss varnish so that the edges of the film disappear.
The sheet will be appreciated by modelers who want to build a Lysander in a less usual finish than the decals in ordinary kits offer. The kit, paints, varnish and decal softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
