NGA-05 Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color (Base Color) - Black Matt

The color

Black Matt is a black without gloss, listed among the base shades of the Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color range. On a model it is handled differently from the other colors: black swallows light, and with it the shape. A large matte black area therefore looks like a flat outline, whereas on small parts, in gaps and on internal structures it does exactly what is expected of it, that is a hard contrast against light surroundings.

Where it is useful

On the joints and internal load-bearing parts of robot kits, on gun barrels and weapon mechanisms, on the rubber and plastic parts of vehicles and on surfaces that should fall into shadow. It also proves itself as a dark base: metallic shades come out more saturated over it, and over black a lighter color can be used to suggest light from above.

Application tips

• Stir the paint before use and apply it in thin coats; black floods engraving fastest of all.
• It is thinned with the thinner intended for the Acrysion range; residues that are not yet dry can be washed off tools with water.
• So that a black surface does not read as dead, lighten the edges and upper surfaces with a color a shade lighter.
• Every fingerprint shows on matte black, so handle the part only once it is dry.
• On snap-fit kits the coat wears off at the joints; paint moving parts sparingly.

Who it is for

For builders of robot kits and for modelers who need a reliable matte black for details and as a base under metallic shades. The thinner, primer and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
