NGA-06 Acrysion Gundam Assemble Color (Base Color) - Char's Pink Matt

What the paint is for

NGA-06 is a ready-made flat pink from the range the manufacturer mixes for builders of Gundam robots. The name of the shade refers to the character Char, with whom red and pink machines are associated in this setting. Hitting such a shade by mixing your own is thankless work, because pink is mixed from white and red and every further batch comes out differently; with a ready-made paint that problem falls away. The Base Color designation places the shade among the base colors of the range.

Properties and application

It is a water-based acrylic paint with a flat finish. Stir it thoroughly before the work, because both the matting component and the pigment sink to the bottom while it stands and unstirred paint changes the shade as well as the degree of flatness. It goes on with a brush as well as with an airbrush, always in several thin coats rather than one heavy one; a thin coat preserves the detail and does not run into the engraved recesses. Choose the thinner from the same range, as the manufacturer's instructions say. Wash and degrease the surface of the part beforehand.

Work tips

• A light pink covers better over a light primer than straight over dark plastic.
• A flat surface holds fingerprints, so take the finished parts by the edges or through a cloth.
• Under decals clear coat the area with a gloss varnish and bring the flat look back only with the final coat.
• A flat surface accentuates the texture underneath, so sand small marks down before painting.
• Spray the parts of one model in a single go so that they have the same shade and the same degree of flatness.
