External auxiliary fuel tanks for the Soviet T-55 and T-62 tanks in 1:48 scale. An accessory for plastic kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
External cylindrical fuel tanks were typical equipment of the Soviet T-55 and T-62 tanks. The vehicles carried them at the rear of the hull, held in brackets, and they increased the fuel supply for long moves. Because they were unprotected and easily knocked about, on vehicles in the field they often looked markedly different from the factory photograph.
The set brings auxiliary fuel tanks for the T-55 and T-62 in 1:48 scale. They are intended as a replacement for the parts from a plastic kit and bring sharper transitions on the ends of the cylinder and finer bands, which injection-molded plastic usually simplifies at this scale.
The material is not polystyrene and ordinary modeling cement has no effect on it. Use cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy. Degrease the surfaces before gluing, otherwise both the joint and the paint will hold badly. Try the fit dry against the brackets at the rear of the hull and file down any overhang. In 1:48 scale it is better to keep the patina more restrained than on larger models, so that the small tanks do not turn coarse. Once the glue has dried, check against the light that the tank sits level in relation to the fender.
The set is intended for builders of armored vehicles in 1:48 scale who want to complete the rear hull of a T-55 or T-62 model with a more accurate shape than the base kit offers.
The package contains only the stated accessory. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
