Gunze Mr.Color SM-211 Super Red Gold

A metallic paint from the premium Mr.Color Super Metallic 2 line by the Japanese maker Gunze / Mr.Hobby (GSI Creos). It is a lacquer in a 10 ml package. The Super Red Gold shade is red gold - a warm metal tone with a cast toward red. The Super designation on a metallic means a very fine, smooth pigment that once dry looks like polished metal rather than coarse glitter.

Chemistry and thinning

The paint is a lacquer and is thinned exclusively with Mr.Color lacquer thinner or Mr.Leveling Thinner - not with water. It is mixable with the other Mr.Color paints. Do not thin it with acrylic or enamel thinner and do not mix it with acrylics or enamels.

Use

• The pigment settles to the bottom - stir the paint thoroughly before use.
• Apply it onto a smooth, ideally gloss surface; on a rough surface a metallic paint loses its sheen.
• Airbrush: thin roughly 1:1 to 1:2 with thinner and apply 2 to 3 thin coats. Brush: thin little (1:0 to 1:1) and apply 1 to 2 coats.
• Apply a metallic paint toward the end of the build - it is harder to mask and to overspray. For protection it can be overcoated with a clear varnish (with a slight change of sheen).

A lacquer - flammable. Use in a well-ventilated area, out of the reach of children and away from open flame; a respirator is recommended.
