A green-brown tone listed under the number RAL 8000. RAL is a German index of shades in which every number stands for one precisely defined color; the eight-thousand series in it belongs to the browns. Eight thousand lies at its edge: it is a brown with a distinct green cast, a tone that behaves differently over a large area from a pure brown and that slips toward olive in daylight. Judge the exact appearance against the manufacturer's chart and the label, as no verbal description can stand in for a shade.
An earthy brown with a greenish undertone suits wherever a pure brown would look too rusty and a green too fresh: on vehicle camouflage, on equipment, boxes and tarpaulins, on wood and on dried mud. It takes layered work well, because both light dust applied dry and a dark wash into the seams sit on it. In two-color camouflage it holds the shape of a field beside a green as well as beside a sand, without either of those tones overwhelming it.
