At one sixth of life size a figure stands around thirty centimetres tall and crosses the line from miniature into small sculpture. The pieces here are collector items in that spirit, covering military subjects as well as film and comic characters, and some arrive already painted and mounted on a base. It is a narrow selection aimed squarely at modellers who want one large statement piece rather than a group.
A 1:6 figure is painted the way a sculpture is finished: broad surfaces need smooth transitions and clearly differentiated textures, and the reward is a piece that earns a shelf of its own. For portrait scale in a more manageable size, look at 120 mm model figures, and for the full span of sizes start at model figures. Large areas of skin and clothing ask for finely ground model paints that will layer without going chalky.
