An Evergreen plastic tube with an outside diameter of 7.1 mm, supplied in pieces 35 cm long.
Responsibility details are not available.
Seven millimeters with a little to spare is already a diameter from which whole objects can be built, not just details. In 1:35 it matches roughly a quarter of a meter of real diameter, which fits refinery piping, a gate post or the shell of a small tank; in larger scales it serves as the jacket of a gun barrel or as a tubular frame.
The hollow section also makes work possible that solid material could not manage. The tube can be slit lengthwise and opened into a channel, its wall sanded down to a thin lip to give a nozzle, or slipped over wire to make a pivot. In a diorama it becomes concrete rings, trash cans, drums and bins for bulk material.
If you need to bend the tube, do not try it cold. Warming it over hot water softens the material and it bends over a suitable roller without flattening; brute force, on the other hand, kinks the wall and the joint can no longer be saved. Anyone who wants to keep the round section perfect packs a tight-fitting wire or fine sand into the tube before bending.
The smooth surface of such a cylinder is easy to bring to life. A few rivets from cut wire, a hoop of thin strip around the circumference or a suggested weld in the seam turn an ordinary tube into a manufactured-looking technical part.
