Rocky's Road Repair - HO Scale

Rockys Road Repair, a finished AutoScenes scene in HO 1:87

AutoScenes are finished painted scenes from the American manufacturer Woodland Scenics in HO scale, that is, 1:87. It is not a loose set of figures but an assembly that holds together as a single scene. This one has, according to its name, a road repair theme, that is, work on a roadway with everything that belongs to it. Everything is painted and ready, so you only settle the scene into place. Road works are a rewarding theme, because they naturally explain a closure, a pile of material and equipment standing by the verge.

Where the scene fits

• on a road by the line, at a level crossing or on the edge of a town
• in a place where you want to justify a closure and a detour
• on a diorama with a construction and road theme
• in a display case as a small scene on its own

How to settle the scene into a layout

The surroundings decide the most. Add traces of work around the scene, that is, a small pile of gravel, barriers, a dirtied roadway and tracks worn into the dust. Mask the edges of the bases with scatter or dust, so that the transition into the terrain is not visible. The colors are clean from the factory, so you unify the scene with the rest of the layout with a light matte varnish and a fine dusting of pigment, especially at the feet of the figures and the wheels of the equipment. A flashing orange or yellow light from a lighting system will bring the scene to life further.

Who it is for

For HO layout modelers and builders of dioramas who want to add a finished and meaningful scene quickly, without having to paint figures.

The scene is finished and painted; it is not a kit. It contains small parts and is therefore not suitable for small children.
