Three oil paints of 10 ml each with a brush in the cap, earth tones for dust, mud and grime.
Responsibility details are not available.
A trio of oil paints supplied in bottles with a brush built into the cap, ten milliliters each. The selection is aimed at soil shades. It contains a medium brown earth, a dried-out summer ground and a greenish sludge of the kind that collects in drainage channels and around rivets. This combination covers most situations where a model should look as if it really stood in a field or in a garage.
Oil paint dries slowly, and that is exactly where its strength lies. A dot you have applied can still be blended, toned down or wiped off completely half an hour later, so transitions build up gradually with no risk that a single clumsy stroke will ruin a finished coat. It is dissolved with mineral spirits, which will not harm the acrylic layer beneath.
Work on a matte surface, as the paint slides off a gloss coat and leaves no mark. Draw off the excess with a brush wiped on a paper tissue, always pulling in one direction, from the top down, so that it looks like running water. Full curing takes several days, so do not handle the model needlessly during that time.
Lay the paint in small dots placed irregularly, never as a continuous area. Only then does a dry brush blend them into the surroundings and set the direction in which the grime ran. Leave a heavier deposit in the corners and around rivets, and keep the flat areas lighter.
