Grass strips — late summer are finished lengths of grassy growth in the shade of drying August grass. You cut them to size, glue them on and the scene is grassed.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished scenery material for dioramas and model railroad layouts. It is not a kit and not a loose grass — you get a continuous strip of grassy growth that is cut to the length you need, glued onto the base, and holds its shape at once. The late summer version captures grass after the peak of the growing season: the green is already losing its richness, yellow and ocher stalks and dry stems show through it, the way an unmown field margin looks in August.
Late summer is the most universal seasonal shade for military and civilian dioramas alike, because it suits a large part of summer combat and peacetime scenes. Use the strip on the edges of field tracks, in ditches, on margins between fields, on railroad embankments, at the feet of fences, low walls and buildings, or on overgrowing road shoulders. The uneven height of the fibers hides joints and irregularities in the substrate better than evenly sprinkled static grass.
Paint the base an earth or ocher shade in advance — dry soil should show through under drying grass, not a gray board. Glue with PVA wood glue or thin latex and press the strip down briefly. Cut the edges irregularly into wedges, never to a straight line. You will support the dried-out effect with a light dusting of beige pigment across the top of the growth. Combining it with an early summer strip in places where there is moisture gives a meadow its natural lack of uniformity.
This is a scenery accessory for building dioramas, not a model kit. The glue, the paints and any further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
