A hollow section in styrene (polystyrene) with an outside square dimension of 6.0 mm and a length of 350 mm, in a package of 2 pieces. It is the most massive member of the range of square hollow sections, and its size marks it out for large scales and for structural elements where a thinner section would be lost. A closed section gives a structure a stiffness that a solid strip of the same weight will not offer.
Divide the section with a fine saw and level the end on a sanding block; a large section will not take breaking along a scored line. The ends of a hollow section tend to be visible on a model, so either cap them with a piece of thin strip or clean them up so that the cavity looks deliberate, for example as the mouth of a downpipe. Apply cement for plastics over the whole mating face, and with large joints glue gradually in portions. Before painting, spray it with a base color, so that the shade matches the surrounding parts.
For builders of dioramas and modelers working in larger scales who need a robust square element. It suits use as the load-bearing framework of a large piece of scenery as well, which you then clad with thinner sections and sheet.
