Styrene strip 0.30 x 5.00 x 350 mm from AK interactive is a pack of ten thin, wide polystyrene strips for building your own parts, paneling and planked surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ten pieces of plastic strip of rectangular section, 0.30 mm thick and 5.00 mm wide, each 350 mm long. The material is polystyrene, the same plastic as in injection-molded kits, so it is worked with entirely ordinary modeling methods. It is neither a kit nor a set of parts, but raw material for your own work.
Five millimeters of width at three tenths of thickness makes this one of the flattest sizes in the whole range. It suits anywhere you need a large area and a minimal increase in thickness: boards, planks, sheathing, deck planking or metal strips across a wall.
A wide, thin strip is best cut by laying it on a hard surface and running the knife repeatedly along the same line until the material separates. Do not try to cut through in one go, because thin styrene bends under pressure and the cut wanders. For a series of parts of the same length, set up a simple stop; a length of 350 mm gives a good many pieces if it is laid out well. It is bonded with liquid cement for polystyrene, which welds the parts together. Degrease the surface before painting and cover it with a primer, because paint then holds better than when applied straight onto smooth plastic.
This is a building material, not a finished model. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
