Eight lacquer paints for the American aircraft of the training squadrons that played the role of the opponent in exercises. It covers the winter, lizard and desert patterns of the F-16 machines and some of the schemes used on the heavier F-15 fighters.
Responsibility details are not available.
So that American crews would learn to fight against foreign equipment, special squadrons were set up whose aircraft carry finishes imitating the machines of a likely adversary. The 18th and 64th squadrons therefore fly F-16s painted so as to resemble Eastern types at a distance. The patterns got nicknames from their appearance and change according to the landscape the training takes place over.
The center of gravity of the package lies on the single-engine F-16 of both squadrons mentioned, while two of the desert colors and the gray tone also cover the heavier twin-engine F-15 in the desert form. Anyone building a whole training squadron gets the basis for three different patterns in one package, so it pays off for a group of models as well.
The lacquer paints of the Orange Line have a very fine pigment and when sprayed keep a sharp edge between the fields, which with divided patterns with hard transitions is essential. The layer tends to be thin, so it does not clog the fine engraving of the panel lines on the surface of the airframe.
