A themed set of modeling paints by the brand Hataka from the Orange Line range. The Orange Line are lacquer paints, that is, lacquer, not acrylics. They have their own chemistry and their own thinner and do not mix with water or with acrylic thinner. The set is named after the setting it aims at: RAF machines in South-East Asia in the years 1942 to 1945.
Lacquer paints are thinned exclusively with the lacquer thinner of the same range, and an airbrush is what they are chiefly intended for. They are applied in thin coats, dry quickly and, once cured, hold a firm, easily sanded film that takes masking and subsequent weathering procedures. Always stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before painting, as settled pigment would otherwise distort the shade. Work in a well-ventilated space and with respiratory protection.
A lacquer coat attacks acrylic and enamel layers beneath it, so never spray it onto insufficiently cured paint of another type. The reverse order is no problem: acrylic and enamel are applied onto cured lacquer without difficulty, so lacquer serves well as the bottom layer under the whole build-up of a color scheme. Check the particular shades, their number and the volume of the bottles on the packaging.
Lacquer paints are flammable and their fumes are irritant. Work with sufficient ventilation, out of reach of children and away from open flame.
