1:144 Hawker Sea Hawk is a masking set for a model of the British carrier-based jet aircraft Hawker Sea Hawk in 1:144 scale from the Czech maker Peewit. It is not a kit but an accessory for painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks that are stuck onto the model before spraying and lifted off once the paint has dried. In 1:144 scale masking by hand with tape is difficult: the frames of the glazing are thin and irregular and measuring them out with a knife without damaging the clear part is a long job. A pre-cut mask shortens this part of the build to minutes and above all ensures the same width of frame around the whole circumference. The set is supplied on its own; neither a kit nor paints are included in it and the exact contents of the package are stated on the box.
The Hawker Sea Hawk was a British single-engine carrier-based jet aircraft with a straight wing and with a characteristic divided exhaust on both sides of the fuselage. It served with the Fleet Air Arm in the late period of the first jet machines and in export reached further users as well. The folding wing and the arrestor hook are features that make it a typical carrier design of its day.
The surface of the model has to be dry, clean and degreased before the masks are stuck on. Transfer a mask with tweezers or the tip of a knife and press it down with a soft tool, above all around the edge, where the paint could run underneath. On curved canopies do not pull a mask by force but seat it in several steps. Spray the paint in thin layers, as a thick layer peels away with the mask when it is lifted off. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint has dried and pull it back over itself rather than straight up. Store the set on its own backing and in the dry, so that it keeps its tack.
This is an accessory for painting, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the fit with your kit before buying.
