An injection-molded plastic kit of the American nuclear attack submarine USS Seawolf (SSN-21) in the large 1:144 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. In the large scale the split hull, the sail and the detail of the deck all stand out; according to the manufacturer the package holds periscopes, aerials and a base. It is a sizeable model that suits a more thorough treatment of the surface. The exact contents of the package are stated by the manufacturer.
USS Seawolf was the lead ship of the American Seawolf class of nuclear attack submarines, conceived as a faster and more heavily armed successor to the boats of the Los Angeles class. She entered service in 1997. They were very quiet and capable submarines with a rich torpedo armament; because of the high cost only a handful were completed in the end, which makes these boats a type of the end of the Cold War that is interesting to collectors.
Glue the halves of the hull with a thin cement for plastic and sand the seam on the smooth flank carefully — on a large model it is especially visible. Choose a full-hull build on the stand, or a modification down to the waterline. Use a uniform dark gray to black color, and then an anti-fouling color on the bottom. Add the periscopes, the aerials and the fine detail of the deck at the end and even out the surface with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
