The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is built with the usual technique for plastic kits: the parts are separated from the sprues, cleaned up and joined with modeling cement for plastic. Another brand offers a model of this car in the same scale under the same name; this one is the Tamiya version.
The Lotus Europa Special was the final and most powerful version of the small two-seat coupe with its engine mounted ahead of the rear axle. The car is built on a backbone chassis with a fiberglass body, which gave it very low weight and a reputation as an exceptionally agile machine with direct steering. The Special received the Lotus-Ford Twin Cam four-cylinder engine, and some cars also got a five-speed gearbox. Its unmistakable features are the tall rear buttresses of the body and the black and gold paint scheme, which pointed to the brand's contemporary successes in formula racing.
The body is the main star of this car, and it calls for a smooth gloss surface. Sand the mold seams with fine paper, apply surfacer, sand again and only then spray the color in thin coats. Fine-tune the gloss with a clear coat and, if needed, a mild polish. Finish and fit the interior, the instrument panel and the engine bay before you close the body up, because after that there is no way back inside. Mask the glazing before spraying and glue it with a cement intended for clear parts, as ordinary liquid cement would fog it. Chrome trim and decorative strips look best when you pick them out with metallic paint or self-adhesive foil. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and settle them with a decal softener so that they sink into the recesses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
