A resin accessory set in 1:32 scale for a model of the Eurofighter Typhoon. It is not a kit of the aircraft but replacement end sections of both powerplants. The nozzles are captured in the open, that is the spread position, and correspond to the earlier type, which the manufacturer distinguishes from the later one. An open nozzle reveals the inside more than a narrowed one, so the quality of the casting shows on it most — thin petal edges and a legible internal profile are the main reason the plastic part gets replaced.
The Typhoon is a twin-engine multirole fighter from a European consortium with EJ200 powerplants fitted with an afterburner. The exit area of the nozzle changes under control according to the engine setting, so on photographs of the same machine you can find both a narrow and a widely spread nozzle. The design of the nozzles was also modified during service, which is why makers of detail sets distinguish early and later machines.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surface with abrasive paper; protect your airways while sanding, as resin dust must not be inhaled. They are glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). With an open nozzle it pays to paint the inside before you seat the part — once it is glued you will no longer reach it with a brush or a nozzle. A primer, metallic shades, a dark wash and fine shading of scorched metal toward the edge all work well.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
