A flag glued flat onto a wall looks like a sticker; only shape turns it into fabric. First dampen the cutout lightly, then shape it slowly over a rounded tool or between your fingers into soft waves; sharp creases pass for sheet metal in 1:35 scale, not for textile. Fix the shape with very thinned PVA glue applied with a brush on both sides – once dry the paper stiffens and keeps the wave. If the flag is to hang vertically in still air, it is enough to suggest a slight sag at the lower edge. With paper that is too stiff to shape, backing the reverse with thin aluminum foil helps; the shape then holds mechanically and needs no fixing at all.
A drawn plastic profile, steel wire or brass wire suits as a pole. Glue the flag to the pole by folding a narrow strip of paper around the wire and gluing it to itself – the joint is then invisible and the flag can still be shaped further. Paint the pole before fitting. You can age the paper with muted pastel along the edges and fine dust pigment; do not overdo it, the saturated colors of a flag should stay legible. It is a good idea to go over the white cut edges with a matching shade, so that they do not glare in close-up.
The accessory is supplied as a printed sheet. Glue, paints, clear coats and material for a pole are not included in the package.
