This is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory: a finished casting of a load covered with a tarpaulin, which is set onto the loading surface of the Faun L900 heavy truck in 1:35 scale. The designation medium corresponds to a medium height of load, so the body looks loaded but the truck is not lost optically under the load. Behind the Das Werk brand stands a German manufacturer focused on vehicles and accessories for them.
An empty loading surface on a model of a truck looks lifeless both in a display case and in a diorama; it is apparent from it that the truck is not going anywhere. A load with a tarpaulin solves that with one part: it gives the model mass, creates a shadow and suggests operations. At the same time it covers the inside of the body, so laborious detailing of the floor and the sides from the inside falls away. The modeled folds and sags of the tarpaulin are also a rewarding surface for painting, because a wash and a dry brush stand out on them.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry thoroughly; the remains of mold release agent, on which paint does not hold, will thereby disappear from the surface. Cut the casting remains off with a saw and sand the area; when sanding, work wet and with protection for the airways. It is glued best with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), which holds reliably on both resin and plastic. Apply a primer before painting. Tarpaulin fabric looks believable when the base shade is brightened with a dry brush on the edges of the folds and a dark wash is run into the hollows; the edges and the lower edges can be soiled with pigments according to the setting you are building the scene in. Before you glue the load on permanently, try the seating dry.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. A model of the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package.
