A plastic kit of the British Hawker Hunter jet fighter in the F.6 version in 1:48 scale from the British maker Airfix. It is a new mold, so the parts have engraved panel lines and a modern breakdown. The box holds gray injection plastic, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet with Royal Air Force schemes and one foreign option. The model can be built straight from the box, but accessories do suggest themselves, as the cockpit and the landing gear bays are clearly visible at this scale.
The Hawker Hunter was a British single-engined subsonic fighter with a swept wing that became one of the most widespread Western aircraft of its generation and served with a number of countries long after it left the front line. The F.6 version received the more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon engine and a sawtooth wing leading edge, which improved handling at high speeds. The armament consisted of four 30 mm cannons housed in a removable pack under the nose, a feature typical of the whole type.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the nose gear bay before the fuselage is closed up, and do not forget nose weight, otherwise the model will sit down on its tail. The long intake duct and the exhaust nozzle are worth filling and cleaning up, as the seam inside the duct is visible from the front. Check the wing-to-fuselage joint dry. A gloss silver or the standard British camouflage scheme both suit an airbrush and a smooth surface; lay a gloss varnish under the decals, flatten it once dry and pick the panel lines out gently.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
