A set of masking elements in 1:48 scale for building a model of the Japanese heavy fighter Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ki-45 Toryu, out of the production of the Kawasaki firm, was a twin-engine machine with a crew of two that the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force deployed in the Second World War in the role of heavy fighter. In the Allied system of code names it appears as Nick. The cabin with its long glazing and divided frames is one of the shapes that hold a model builder up most during painting.
The elements are pre-cut to the shapes on the model, so instead of cutting tape directly on the part you just peel them off and stick them on. The edge of the spray then comes out straight even where hand masking would follow the frame only approximately. The extent of the set is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
The surface has to be dry and degreased before sticking anything on. Transfer the elements with tweezers, do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers and press the edges down properly. Apply the paint in several thin coats; a heavy coat increases the risk of creep and of a step at the edge. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried.
It suits modelers who want to manage masking on a twin-engine aircraft quickly and precisely. Before sticking an element down, lay it on dry and compare it with the part, because the masks are cut for the kit the manufacturer states.
Masking elements are supplied. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
