This item is not a kit of an aircraft. It is an aftermarket accessory from the Greek GasPatch models brand: a pair of separate MG 15 aircraft machine guns in 1:48 scale, made of resin. In this scale the weapons from a plastic kit tend to be simplified in shape and soft; a resin replacement will bring sharp edges, a drawn-out barrel jacket and fine details that are clearly visible in an open cabin or on a defensive position.
The MG 15 is a German aircraft machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber intended for the flexible mounts of defensive positions. It is air-cooled and its barrel is covered by a perforated jacket that carries the heat away. The weapon was fitted on pivoting or ring mounts and was operated by a gunner by hand. The description keeps to the design of the weapon and not to an account of its use.
Before building, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that no release agent stays on them and paint holds on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a thin saw or a new blade and sand the remains wet with protection for the breathing, as resin dust is not to be inhaled. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) alone. The thin barrels and perforated jackets are fragile, so handle the parts with tweezers and leave them on the casting block until the last moment. Paint thinly: a primer, a dark metallic shade, a fine dry brush to emphasize the perforation and a dark wash into the hollows.
This is a modeling accessory, not a complete kit. The parts are supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package.
