Model Scene Embankment late summer

Finished scenery growth for a grassed embankment, that is a sloped area along a road, rails or a watercourse. The late summer version means that the vegetation has already lost its spring freshness: yellow-green, ocher and straw tones predominate in the color. The material is simply laid down and glued.

What the vegetation looks like and where it fits

A drying embankment is rewarding in dioramas from summer and the beginning of autumn. It suits a dusty vehicle, a dusty track and baking concrete, and with gray ballast it creates a readable, natural contrast. It comes into its own at railroad track, at a road carried on an embankment, on the bank of a ditch and as a break in terrain between two levels of a scene.

Usage tips

Lay the growth only onto finished, painted and dusted terrain. Try the intended spot dry first, tear or cut the piece to an irregular shape as needed, since a sharp straight edge does not arise in nature. It is glued with PVA wood glue, and a drop of cyanoacrylate will serve for a firm hold on a hard substrate. Hide the transition between the growth and the surrounding soil with a sprinkled fine scatter, grit or pigment, so that the growth does not look like a glued-on carpet. You can match the coloring with a light overspray of heavily thinned paint from above or by dusting with pigment, always only very lightly and once dry. On a slope, hold the growth down or weight it while it dries. You will strengthen the parched impression by tapping dust pigment lightly into the growth at the foot of the slope, and use the same pigment on the track around it.
