1:48 Sukhoi Su-30SM is an Eduard masking set with pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing and other areas of the model. It is not a kit but an aid for painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the two-seat Su-30SM multirole aircraft in 1:48 scale. The package does not contain a model — in it are sheets of masks with which you cover the cockpit glazing and other areas that are not to be oversprayed before spraying. The masks are made by the Czech firm Eduard from thin kabuki type masking tape.
The Su-30SM is a twin-engine two-seat multirole aircraft derived from the Su-27 family. The crew sits in tandem under a long canopy whose glazing is considerably longer and more divided than on single-seat machines. It is precisely with a canopy of this size that pre-cut masks pay off most.
The masks follow the shape of the individual glazing panes, so the paint forms a sharp edge and the frames come out the same width along the whole length. Kabuki tape adapts well to the slight curvature of the canopy, holds firmly and leaves no adhesive on the clear part once removed. The procedure is simple: degrease the glazing, lift the mask out of the sheet with a scalpel or tweezers, lay it on dry and press it down all the way round with a stick. Spray the paint in thin coats — a heavy application is more likely to seep under the mask. Remove the masks as soon as the paint is dry to the touch.
In the package is masking material only — the kit, paints and glue are not part of it. The masks are cut to the specific shape of the glazing, so check before buying that they match the kit you are building.
