This is not a kit of a vehicle or a figure but a stand-alone addition for 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Eduard of Obrnice near Most. The set brings finely cast models of the AK-47 assault rifle meant either to replace coarser weapons from ordinary injection molds or to complete a scene where a weapon laid aside or slung adds to the story.
The casting captures the characteristic shapes of the real thing: the curved magazine, the wooden stock and handguard, the gas tube and the sights. Compared with parts from a conventional mold the detail is sharper, the edges thinner and the surface free of a parting line, so once painted the weapon looks like a miniature rather than an approximate outline. The manufacturer's catalog sheet gives the exact number of pieces and the contents of the box.
The AK-47 is a Soviet 7.62 mm assault rifle introduced at the end of the 1940s and spread, in various updated forms, across the whole world. For the modeler it is the typical weapon of postwar and Cold War scenes, from armored vehicle crews to infantry figures.
Carefully separate the parts from the casting block with a fine-toothed saw, sand the cut and wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary model cement for plastic has no effect. Apply a primer before painting. The metal parts look good in a dark graphite or black-green color with a light dry brush along the edges, and the wood can be brought out with a brown base and oil paints blended into the pattern of the grain. If you sand resin, protect your airways.
This is an addition for building a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
