This injection-molded plastic kit depicts the fast combat support ship USS Sacramento (AOE-1). The model is supplied in a waterline version or as a full-hull version on a stand. The box does not lack a small photo-etched fret, decals and helicopters molded in clear plastic for the deck.
USS Sacramento was the lead ship of her class and combined the roles of a tanker, an ammunition ship and a stores ship in a single hull. She was designed to keep up with a carrier task force and to replenish its fuel, ammunition and stores under way. She served with the US Navy for several decades.
It is a good idea to paint the deck with its handling areas and cranes before the superstructures are fitted. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic with thin cement for plastic. The recesses below deck and the loaded cargo stand out after a dark wash and a light touch of a dry brush. The clear helicopters can be painted and used to complete the scene on the deck.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
