AH-64A, colored interior on decal backing paper 1:35 from Quinta Studio carries three-dimensionally printed cockpit detail onto a model of the attack helicopter. Intended for the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Quinta Studio makes a particular kind of accessory: the motif is printed three-dimensionally, so it has real thickness and relief, but the carrier remains a decal film. The parts are therefore neither cut nor glued like resin but applied with water like a decal. The designation of the smaller version in the name means a narrower extent than with the expanded form of the same brand, covering the main surfaces of the cockpit, not every detail of the combat compartment. The base kit is Trumpeter.
The AH-64 attack helicopter entered American army service in the middle of the eighties and became the model for a whole category. The crew sits in tandem one behind the other, under the fuselage hangs a chain gun aimed by the movement of the gunner's head, and the stub wings carry anti-tank missiles and rocket pods. The version with the letter A is the original form without the mast-mounted radar cover, which appeared only with the later shape of the machine.
The plastic moldings of the instrument panels and side panels are first sanded flat so that the film seats over the whole surface. Paint the surface under the motif in a dark shade; light plastic showing through would lighten the result. Close the surface with gloss clear coat, dip the motif briefly in lukewarm water and transfer it to its place, where you will straighten it with a soft brush. Do not use decal softener or decal fixer, as the chemistry will attack the printed resin and ruin the piece. Once dry, the surface can be tuned with dark pin washes around the instruments.
