A resin wheel set in 1:35 scale for a model of the Marmon-Herrington armored car. The castings carry the tread of Firestone tires, and that is exactly the detail by which this set differs from the otherwise identical set with the Dunlop tread. It is not a kit, but a replacement for the plastic wheels on a model you already own.
Marmon-Herrington armored cars were built in the Union of South Africa on truck chassis and served Commonwealth units, most of all in North Africa and the Middle East. They were light reconnaissance machines with an open or partly open superstructure, whose armament changed during the war according to what was at hand. On its large tires the vehicle stands high, so the wheels make up a substantial part of its look.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw, true the cut with a file and protect your airways. Resin is bonded with super glue, that is, with cyanoacrylate. Before fitting, check the diameter of the stub on the axle. You can sand the bottom of the tire lightly into a flat, so that the vehicle looks loaded. The rubber looks more convincing in a dark gray shade and with dust picked up in the tread.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
