E.T. Model 1:35 Modern US ARMY M1A2 SEP MBT TUSK I/II is a photo-etched detail set made of thin metal for a model of the American M1A2 SEP main battle tank with the TUSK package. It is not a kit, but an accessory that replaces simplified plastic parts.

This item is neither a model nor a kit. It is a set of photo-etched parts, that is parts etched out of thin sheet metal, which are used to improve a plastic model in 1:35 scale that is already built or part-built. Photo-etched sheet can faithfully capture the thickness of the sheet-metal covers, the grilles, the lifting eyes, the brackets and the loops, which cannot be molded finely enough in injection-molded plastic. The set is intended for modelers who want to achieve a material thickness that is correct for the scale, and sharp edges, on the surface of the tank.
The M1A2 SEP is an upgrade step of the American M1 Abrams main battle tank. The abbreviation SEP stands for a package of improvements to the electronics, the fire control and the command and control systems. The designation TUSK then belongs to a set of items for fighting in built-up areas: it includes additional protection of the sides, a shield for the commander's machine gun, a protected weapon station for the loader and a telephone at the rear of the vehicle that lets the accompanying infantry talk to the crew. The TUSK II step adds further modules to the protection. It is exactly these items that make up the many small sheet-metal details on the model that the photo-etched set is aimed at.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp scalpel or with sheet-metal shears on a hard surface, and never break them out with your fingers. Make the folds in a photo-etch bender or between two razor blades, so that the edge is sharp and straight. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is with a cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest possible amount; more experienced modelers use solder. Degrease the parts before painting and go over them with a base color meant for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Washes and drybrushing then come out well on the finished assembly and bring out the fine engraving.
This is an accessory set for advanced modelers. It does not hold a model or a kit, and glue and paints are not included in the package.
