A plastic kit of a racing truck in 1:35 scale from the Russian manufacturer Zvezda. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a classic injection-molded kit. The real subject is a special of the rally raid category, that is, a truck built for long-distance off-road events: a vehicle with a markedly short wheelbase, a cab moved back and rugged protection of the chassis.
The KAMAZ-43509 belongs among the racing specials built on the basis of production truck engineering, modified for long-distance off-road events. Characteristic of it is the combination of all-wheel drive, large off-road tires and strengthened suspension, which has to stand up to many hours of driving over sand, stony ground and dunes. The crew consists of a driver, a navigator and a mechanic, so the cab is fitted with a roll cage and racing equipment. The trucks of the KAMAZ-Master team are among the best-known machines of this category and their conspicuous blue finish is a recognition mark of rally raid events.
Proceed from the bottom up: finish and paint the frame, the axles and the drive before you close the whole up with the body, as once it is assembled you will not get to them. Cut the parts off the sprue with nippers and sand the gate remnant down, so that no gaps arise in the joints. Glue with a thin cement for plastic, which wicks into the seam. Before painting, apply a surfacer; on large blue areas a light base pays off, so that the shade covers evenly. An off-road truck stands up to a pronounced patina: dusty deposits in light pigments on the lower part of the vehicle, darker deposits in the recesses and light chipping on the edges of the fenders and the bumper. Leave the tires matte and without gloss, so that they do not come across as plastic.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
