Responsibility details are not available.
The second figure from the themed series of Viet Cong Local Forces fighters in 1:35 scale. It is a cast resin figure intended as an accessory for dioramas and display case scenes - it is neither a model of equipment nor a kit. The individual numbers of the series differ in stance, kit and turn, so they can be put together into a multi-figure scene without the figures looking repetitive. The casting is unpainted and unassembled.
More civilian clothing and non-uniform kit, filled out according to availability, were typical of the Local Forces. For a modeler that is an advantage: in a scene you are not bound to one prescribed shade of clothing and differing tones of cloth from one figure to another look natural. The figure suits village and jungle scenes, terrain features and equipment, beside which it will form a counterpart to the regular forces.
Before building, wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter and never break them away; sand the surfaces down wet with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate super glue, level the seams out with putty and sand them over. Apply a thin base coat, which will unify the surface. Paint the cloth in layers from shadow to light and unify the transitions with a glaze; build the skin up in several thin coats, so that the drawing of the face stays legible. Finally tie the figure optically to the base with a light dusting of pigment in the area of the footwear and the trouser legs.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
