The third figure of the themed series of Viet Cong Local Forces fighters in 1:35 scale. It is a resin casting intended as an accessory for dioramas and display case scenes - not as a model of equipment. The figure has a stance of its own, different from the other numbers of the series, so that standing several figures next to one another gives no impression of repetition. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Local Forces were marked out by more civilian clothing and non-uniform kit, which shows in the sculpting of the figure as well - loose cloth, simple footwear and simply carried kit. For a modeler that means a scene calls for no uniform color prescription and looks more natural when the shades of the cloth differ slightly from one figure to another. The figure comes into its own in village and jungle scenes and as a contrast to figures of the regular forces.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent because of the remains of the release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, sand the surfaces down wet and use respiratory protection. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate super glue; try the joint out dry before gluing. Apply a thin coat of primer - it will reveal small flaws in the casting, which can still be sanded away at this stage. Carry the painting from darker shadows to the lights and set the individual areas apart with a glaze and a fine wash. A dry brush will pick the edges of the cloth out, and pigment on the footwear and the trouser legs will optically settle the figure into the terrain of a diorama.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
