A plastic kit of the British LCA landing craft of the Second World War in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Landing Craft Assault, LCA for short, was a British landing craft of the Second World War. Its task was to carry infantry from a transport ship right to the shore and to put them ashore dry-footed over a lowering ramp in the bow. The shape matches that: a low hull with little freeboard, so that the craft was harder to see from the shore, and side walls protecting the soldiers against fire from land. One craft held infantry roughly to the strength of a platoon.
A landing craft is a rewarding subject in 1:35 scale, because it can be combined with figures and turned into a whole scene. The open space inside is visible, so you can enjoy yourself with kit, ropes and worn surfaces. At the same time it is a compact model that does not take up as much room as a large ship.
This is a plastic kit in 1:35 scale that you assemble and paint yourself. The extent of the set, the number of parts and the range of marking options are given in the enclosed manufacturer's instructions.
Paint and finish the inside before you close the sides up, as it is hard to get into afterwards. Wash and degrease the whole model before painting, otherwise the paint holds unreliably on smooth surfaces. These craft served hard and in salt, so a worn edge on the ramp, matte surfaces and a hint of damp at the bottom look good on them. A weathered surface turns the model into a machine that has just run up onto the shore.
Paints, glue, figures and accessory sets are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
