Christian Radich with an S-boat and a U-boat, 1:350 — a plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima: the training sailing ship during her service under the Kriegsmarine, with a fast torpedo boat and a submarine added.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima brings together three vessels from the Second World War: the training sailing ship Christian Radich at the time she was under the control of the Kriegsmarine, together with a fast torpedo boat (S-boat) and a submarine (U-boat). The main sailing ship model is in 1:350 scale.
Christian Radich is a Norwegian full-rigged three-masted sailing ship completed in 1937 as a training vessel for young seamen. After the German occupation of Norway she was seized and used by the Kriegsmarine; she came through the war in a damaged state, returned under the Norwegian flag after 1945, was restored and still serves as a school ship today. S-boats and submarines were typical assets of the Kriegsmarine of that period, so the set lets you assemble a small period scene from occupied Norwegian waters.
Devote the most time to the rigging of the sailing ship: make the lines from thin monofilament or elastic rigging thread and tension them gradually from the lower yards upwards. Paint the hull and the decks before fitting the masts; a light brownish wash brings out the deck detail. Hold the small escorting vessels with tweezers during assembly and paint them while they are still on the sprue. The finished group looks its best on a shared water surface made from acrylic gel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
