Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a ship model but an accessory for the build. It offers metal photo-etched parts for a model of the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal as she was in 1939. Eduard split the accessories for this ship into several separate parts; this is the one marked as the fourth, and a first, second and third part came out beside it. Each is bought separately and covers a different area of the model. Photo-etched sheet makes it possible to capture thin structures to scale, railings, gratings and platforms, in a way a plastic part never could.
HMS Ark Royal was among the most modern British aircraft carriers of the late 1930s. Built within the limits of the disarmament treaties of the day, she carried an unusually numerous air group thanks to two hangar decks one above the other. She entered service at the end of 1938. The best-known episode of her career was May 1941, when torpedo Swordfish from her deck damaged the rudder of the battleship Bismarck. In November 1941 a submarine torpedo struck her off Gibraltar and the ship sank over the following day.
Separate the parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife; scissors will bend the sheet. Make the bends along the scored lines, best in a photo-etch bender or over the edge of thick glass. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; on larger areas two-part epoxy comes in handy for the longer working time. Always put a primer under smooth metal before painting. Leave fine elements such as railings until the very end of the build, after spraying and weathering, or you will damage them while handling the model further.
