This product is an accessory set for improving a model, not a kit. Artwox Model specializes in aftermarket equipment for ship models and this set is cut for a particular kit of the battleship USS Missouri BB-63 in 1:350 scale in her upgraded state around 1991. Check before buying, therefore, that your kit matches precisely this item: sets of this kind are tied in shape to one particular model and may not fit another. A plastic kit of a large surface ship necessarily has its limits: the decks are engraved, the railings and the ladders are too thick and the small equipment is simplified. An accessory set replaces these areas with more accurate elements, so that once finished the model looks more faithful to scale, above all from close up and in photographs. The upgraded state of the ship from the beginning of the 1990s is attractive for a modeler because it differs markedly from the original form: new superstructures, antennas and armament were added, which make the surface of the deck far more intricate.
Plan the procedure in advance. First decide which original plastic parts you will remove, and do it before you start gluing the hull: once it is assembled you will not reach many places. Glue the accessory parts with super glue or thin cement for plastic according to the material, always with a small amount only. Divide the model into stages and keep protecting the finished parts from dust. Plan the painting so that the finest elements are fitted only after the main areas have been sprayed, otherwise you will easily clog them with paint. At the end it pays to anchor the model on a base: the more accurate accessories are fragile and every handling risks damaging them.
This is an accessory for modelers. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
