The BelAZ-7547 is one of the heavy dump trucks of the Belarusian BelAZ marque, which specializes in vehicles for open-pit mines and large quarries. These machines are not meant for the road: they haul rock along purpose-built tracks inside the mine, and they have a massive frame, a tipping body with a raised front wall and sizable wheels of a kind not seen on an ordinary truck. They are loaded by an excavator or a wheel loader, so tipping the body is among the things most often shown off on a model of such a machine.
This is a plastic kit in 1:43 scale. A mining dump truck in it comes out considerably larger than a passenger car in the same scale, so it makes a prominent item in a cabinet that asks for a place of its own.
The tipping body and the massive frame have large flat surfaces on which every irregularity shows, so sand away traces of manufacture and smooth the surfaces before painting. Lay the paint on in thin coats. A working machine will take pronounced marks of service: scuffed paint on the edges of the body, dust on the chassis and dusty tires will move the model closer to reality.
The set is for collectors of mining and construction machines and for modelers who like large commercial machines and want something other than passenger cars in a collection. It will also serve as the center of a quarry diorama.
